Mutual Aid Alberta: Who We Are
Mutual Aid Alberta (MAA) is a not-for-profit society, established in 2014, dedicated to ensuring everyone gets the help they need during an emergency. We believe public safety is enhanced when emergency responders have access to the resources they need to respond quickly and effectively.
Our goal is to put the health and safety of people first. During any emergency situation, access to accurate information is critical to the success of the response. This includes the ability to contact residents to provide them with information for their safety.
Our approach emphasizes building relationships and linking response partners through a common emergency management system. It involves improving resident emergency notification and reducing personal information privacy risk by ensuring secure emergency contact data collected and stored by a single source. This makes data gathering simpler for community stakeholders by having one company with one approach.
Safe Operations: An Informed Stakeholder Approach
MAA recognizes that informed stakeholders are an essential element to the safe operation of wells, facilities and pipeline systems. While conducting the pilot, MAA will ensure they will provide stakeholders with appropriate information so they are aware of all oil and gas operations, their hazards and what to do in the unlikely event of an emergency.
A Best Practice Public Involvement (PI) Program
PI involves two-way communication when engaging stakeholders and promotes a dialogue between MAA and our stakeholder community. Our objectives for the PI program include creating one PI standard across the Province while ensuring that the PI program chosen is the highest standard of the various regulators that require PI.
